How much does Newark Days cost?

Admission to Newark Days is free. Stage shows also don’t require tickets and are free. All Newark Days sanctioned parking lots and street parking are also free (though parking space is first come-first served). Newark Days kids events and shows are also free.

For carnival rides, there are both individual ride tickets and unlimited wristbands available. Our carnival vendor helps determine the price based on their costs, so it can change from year to year. In 2025, an unlimited ride wristband is $45 and individual ride tickets $2 each (discounted to $1.04 each when purchasing 25 and $0.88 each when buying 40 tickets), with 4-7 tickets needed per ride. The Thursday of Newark Days features special opening night pricing of just $2 flat rate per ride.

Participation in the Newark Mile 4k race and car show requires a fee and registration, though spectators are free. Our independent food, art, crafts, and trade vendors also sell their products at a fee they determine.

Are credit cards accepted?

Generally, yes, but there may be some items that are cash only. The carnival vendor accepts credit card. Our independent food, art, crafts, and trade vendors determine whether or not to accept credit card, but generally most do. Pre-registration to become a vendor or participate in the Newark Mile or Car Show also has credit card payment options. There is also an ATM machine available on site.

What time does Newark Days start?

In 2024, Newark Days will be open Thursday-Sunday, September 19-22. For specific operating times for the various Newark Days events, see our Schedule page.

Where is Newark Days located?

The Newark Days festivities are primarily located around the MacGregor Playfields and Newark Community Center at 35501 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560. Certain events, such as the Parade and Newark Mile 4K, cause street closures all the way down Newark Blvd. between Thornton Ave. and Cedar Blvd.

Where can I find parking?

The parking lots around MacGregor School (35753 Cedar Blvd.) are generally open for parking. Street parking is available on Cedar Blvd and in the surrounding neighborhoods (please be mindful of driveways and residents’ property if parking is in residential areas). Lots surrounding the Newark Community Center and Park are closed to public parking during most of the event but are occasionally open. Please be mindful of all posted signage about parking restrictions. Please see the parking map on the schedule page.

All the above parking options are available free of charge. Certain local organizations not associated with Newark Days will occasionally create nearby paid parking lots. These are available for your use but are not sanctioned by Newark Days.

Which roads are closed during Newark Days and when?

On Saturday, the Newark Days Parade and The Newark Mile 4K take place. This causes multiple road closures along the Race and Parade Routes and Parade Staging Area from 6:00AM. to approximately 2:00PM. This includes:

  • The City Hall parking lot,
  • Thornton Blvd. from St. Edward St. to Cherry St.
  • Newark Blvd. from Civic Terrace to Cedar Blvd.
  • Cedar Blvd. from Newark Blvd. to Edgewater.

Please check out the Parade Road Closure Map

Are dogs allowed at Newark Days?

Though we love furry companions, dogs and other pets are not allowed in the fenced area that includes the food festival and carnival. We also ask dog owners to use caution in other areas of the Newark Days grounds, given the abundance of people attending. Leashes are always required in accordance with City of Newark law.

What type of food is available?

Every year, we host 25+ independent food vendors. In general, we seek to not have multiple vendors with the same food items. So, there is always an abundance of variety. Beer and wine are also available for purchase for those 21+ in our Beer and Wine Pavillion.
